Aeon Labs Z-stick Series 2 Driver For Mac



OK so I am completely new to the world of home automation and decided to go with this Z-Stick. I went with this product because the price was good and the reviews were great. Setup is completely simple. Download the drivers off the Aeon Labs website with the stick plugged in install the drivers. In terms of controller software this is where I wish there were more options. Although, I won't downgrade my review because of this because the software that does work with this stick works great. Currently using InControl Home Automation Software Free Version but will purchase the pro version soon.

I'm also unsure why they list MAC drivers (on the bottom of the page) when up in the top section of the page it says MACs don't need drivers. The driver link at the bottom (which, last time we checked, was terribly out of date) is for the Z-Stick Series 2, not the Gen5. I have a program written in UWP communicating to my Aeon Labs using serial communication to my Windows 10 client USB port. Connections works great and the program can control and read from and to my Z-Wave devices.

My main thing I wanted was software that works with both Windows and has an app on the android market. InControl was really the only software I found.

If anyone knows any others to try out please let me know and comment on this. Wan miniport sstp driver for mac. Only have 1 Jasco on/off light switch right now but will be adding Door locks, and more switches soon. I am also using a 32 foot active USB extension cord to so I could move the z-stick to the center of my home. I have had zero issues with using the extension cord.

I recommend this to anyone wanting to get into the world of Home Automation UPDATE 5/2/2014 Have added many more light switches and other z wave devices. I have a total of 6 light switches. 2 of which are dimmers.

A Zwave transmitter that acts as a 3 way switch. 1 Door Lock, and 2 lamp plugs. All working without skipping a beat. Z wave Z-stick still in the same spot connected with an active usb extension cord. Planning on adding a couple more things to finish off my setup. I have even got voice commands working with incontrol app and tasker app. People are so surprised when I say 'turn living room lights on' and it does it haha.

I stopped using the aeon stick because it would randomly hang. I would have to hard-reset it every few days, that is disconnect it from the usb port and reconnect it. I have about 20 z-wave devices in my network, two of which report back power usage. I suspect that the updates from those devices may have caused the aeon to hang.

Btw, i was using firmware 3.07 from their website. I did some research and found that other people reported a similar problem. I have since bought sigma design's stick and have had no hang problem. One convenient feature of the aeon stick is its ability to add/remove devices without requiring a 3rd-party program.
